Government standards for residential care increasing

• A work rehabilitation scheme for long-term and cyclically unemployed began in 1983.
• The Mission's community services headquarters moved from among the caryards and warehouses in Taranaki Street to Newtown.
• Work with the elderly was extended through a home help service and a new day centre in Newtown.
