The Winter Appeal Challenge

Every day The Wellington City Mission’s Drop-in Centre provides care, daytime shelter and a hearty meal for people in need. During the winter months this service is particularly important as a place to escape the cold weather, enjoy a nourishing meal, and connect with others.

In the last financial year we were able to provide over 29,000 meal servings through this service! Help us to keep doing this by participating The Winter Appeal Challenge! Your support will help to ensure that people in need across Greater Wellington can stay healthy and warm through this winter and beyond.

It’s easy for your business, team or group to participate: simply host a fundraising event of your choice during the month of June and collect funds for The Mission.

Every $4 raised provides one healthy, nourishing meal serving for a person in need, so the challenge is: How many meal servings can you help provide?

20 meal servings = $80, 50 meal servings = $200, 100 meal servings = $400, and so on.

How you want to fundraise is up to you! We encourage you to be as creative as you like. Here are some fundraising ideas to get you started:

To get involved, simply follow these steps:

1. Download a Registration Form from the side bar to the right, fill it out and send it back to us at

2. Decide what your fundraising event will be and when you’re going to do it.

3. Hold your event!

4. Once the event is finished, you can do a direct credit into The Wellington City Mission bank account for the amount you’ve raised.

Please use your business/group name and “Winter Challenge” as a reference.
