The Wellington City Mission Drop-in Centre is a safe haven for people from all walks of life. A place to relax over a hot drink and be in the company of others, or a place to be away from the pressures of everyday life. A place where meals are served for nourishment rather than for profit.
At the moment, the Drop-in Centre supports around 50 guests each day. We ask people for a 20c koha for a cup of tea, coffee or milo. Soup and bread is available daily at no charge but for larger meals we will request a koha to help us cover some costs.
Music, board games and jigsaws are available for use.
A full time Drop in Centre coordinator and kitchen supervisor are on duty but we also rely on our volunteers to support with the preparation of food. The smooth running of the Drop-in Centre depends largely on volunteers, and new volunteers are always needed.
Special events such as a mid-winter feast or a Christmas BBQ are arranged with corporate sponsorship.
The Mission's Drop-in Centre operates Monday to Thursday 9.30am to 1.30pm. The DiC is closed on a Friday but we provide breakfast take away food bags for our guest at 200 Riddiford Street, Newtown, Wellington
