Financial Mentoring

Financial Mentoring is part of the Mission for Independence programme.  The aim of this service is to help clients manage their financial affairs independently.

For those who are in serious financial difficulty, The Mission operates a 'Total Money Management' service, where the client's income goes into The Wellington City Mission Welfare Trust Account and together with a financial mentor, the service user develops a budget which will move them towards financial independence.

At the initial interview the client's options will be discussed, and on acceptance into the service, a formal agreement is completed. The client is assigned a financial mentor who then works closely with them.  The Mission becomes the authorised agent and acts on the client's behalf.

Other clients may require less than 'Total Money Management', and are offered assistance and budget education on a needs-based basis.
