Introducing our new Brown Paper Bag appeal.
COVID-19 presented significant challenges for many people and families in need throughout the Wellington region. With your help, we were able to provide them with some relief. But, as the cold winter months draw nearer, our collective support must continue.
The impact of COVID-19 has been devastating for many of the people and families who walk through our door every day – many have lost their jobs, taken pay cuts or have had to sacrifice meals in order to make ends meet.
The winter season will amplify their challenges, especially with the increased costs that come with trying to keep the house warm.
This is the heart-breaking reality of peoples and families circumstances, in the wake of COVID-19.
This year, as part of our Winter Campaign, we have teamed up with New World for our annual and refreshed brown paper bag collection, called ‘Family2Family’.
While Aotearoa, New Zealand is a small country, we are one big family. We’re a team of five million. At the heart of Family2Family, is the need for all of us to continue looking out for each other.
Many people and families are struggling to put food on the table, and are having to stretch their limited incomes even further. Through Family2Family, you can help fill a bag with grocery items which will help provide some much-needed relief to people and families in need.
This simple but generous act of kindness will mean that people and families don’t have to stress or worry about not being able to put food on the table, keep their houses warm, or their children getting sick. These are the common yet harsh effects of winter.
We united against COVID-19, now let’s band together to be there for those who will be hit hardest this winter. Let’s unite and make sure that everyone in the Wellington region can be warm, safe and healthy this winter.
You can collect our special brown paper bags from any New World in the Wellington Region from 22 June to 12 July.
If you are a group who would like to host a collection and will need a larger quantity of bags, please call 04 245 0843 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to request bags.
Please note that you can also use any regular shopping bag to participate in this Appeal.
