Celebrating 120 years! Empowering, transforming, and creating fullness of life for Wellingtonians who need support. ❤️

Homelessness is on the rise in Pōneke. The number Homelessness is on the rise in Pōneke. The numbers are concerning - but each figure represents a human with their own story, their own struggles, and too often, a system that hasn’t been there when they needed it most.

We’re committed to providing support with dignity and compassion – from hot meals and free showers in the short term, to transitional housing and peer support in the long term.

This World Homeless Day, there’s lots you can do to make a difference. You can donate to organisations like ours that work every day to help those experiencing homelessness. Or you can raise awareness: share this post (or someone else’s), talk to your whānau and friends, and stand in solidarity with those doing it tough. Every action counts in supporting those facing tough times.

‘Transitional Housing’ is a term you hear from ‘Transitional Housing’ is a term you hear from us a lot, but what does it really mean for those living at our sites?

Well, it isn’t just about a transition to permanent housing. We work closely with whānau living at our sites, ensuring we’re setting them up for success when it’s time to move on.

The wrap around support we provide may include employment support, community engagement, and a focus on the development of essential life skills and networks.

Rosa talks us through some of the resources we offer to assist our rangatahi (young people) who live with us at Whakamaru.❤️
