Peer Support
Sometimes the most powerful support comes from someone who has walked a similar path.
Our Peer Support Workers build authentic relationships with our manuhiri and help them find the support they need.
Our Peer Support Workers use their own lived experience of challenges such as mental distress, addiction, homelessness or other significant life experiences, to walk alongside people as they navigate their own journey.
Peer Support Workers build authentic relationships based on mutual respect, empathy and the belief that recovery and wellbeing are possible for everyone.
Upon building authentic relationships with our manuhiri, Peer Support Workers support people to identify their own strengths, make informed choices and take the next steps that are right for them.

What kind of support do our Peer Support Workers offer?
Support may include practical assistance, connecting people with the right services, building confidence, developing wellbeing strategies and strengthening community connections.
Their unique perspective complements the skills of the wider team and helps ensure people feel heard, valued and understood. Through shared experience, they demonstrate that change is possible and that no one has to face life’s challenges alone.
