A good neighbour makes the world of difference to the lives of those around us. That is the strength of our community, and for that reason, we need your support today.
Life is changing, current realities are under threat, people may lose their jobs and families are entering into uncertain times.
The global Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is dominating headlines, and plaguing communities. The Wellington City Mission’s work, supporting those most in need across the Wellington region, becomes even more significant as the need in our community intensifies. Your support today becomes important now more than ever.
As peoples’ lifestyles and circumstances change as a result of COVID-19, there is one thing that must remain constant – and that is, our unwavering and collective need to be kind to one another, by looking out for one another and restoring hope.
I encourage us all to spare a thought for those in our community who already struggle but will now find it even harder. Throughout our 116 year history, The Mission has cared for Wellingtonians who find themselves experiencing hard times. We’re constantly adapting our services to meet the need.
Today, that must continue.
We will continue to supply food to those in need. We will modify our daily meal service so people in the community can still get a nourishing daily meal. We will modify our food parcel service to deliver these to people’s front door, rather than ask them to collect them from our foodbank. Our social workers will continue to maintain phone contact with our people and families.
We will continue to show love and compassion, as the support we give and the work we do will not stop.
We want to ensure that everyone in Wellington, no matter their circumstances, has access to food, support and the necessities they need at this time.
Now is the time for Wellington to come together, to be a good neighbour and to be kind.
