Hei Whakamaru o Te Korowai o Te Panepane o Te Ika a Maui. Walking alongside Wellington for over 120 years. ❤️

We’re launching a free trauma-informed Dental Se We’re launching a free trauma-informed Dental Service at Whakamaru, in partnership with Ora Toa Pōneke. @terunangaotoa

Here's what Pip, our Community Services Director, had to say about the service: “Dental pain and poor oral health can have a profound impact on someone’s physical and mental wellbeing, yet access remains a major barrier for many. This Whakamaru dental service removes those barriers, offering compassionate, trauma-informed care to people who would otherwise go without.”

Opening Tuesday 10 February, and with appointments available by referral, the Whakamaru Dental Clinic will provide free dental care in a safe, familiar environment for people doing life tough.

One year on from opening Kua Mākona i Whakamaru, One year on from opening Kua Mākona i Whakamaru, our Crisis Recovery Cafe, we’re taking a moment to reflect on the impact this space has had.

Over the past year, we’ve welcomed 735 manuhiri through our doors during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. We’ve seen firsthand how powerful it is to offer a calm, non-clinical space where people are listened to, treated with dignity, and supported by peer workers with lived experience.

We’re incredibly proud of our team and deeply grateful to the community for supporting this kaupapa. Here’s to continuing this mahi and being there for people when they need it most. ❤
