What We Do

Accessing Further Support

Sometimes life presents unexpected and overwhelming challenges, and this may mean that you simply cannot see a way through. We may be able to offer access to assistance and support via the Mayoral Relief Fund is one example of help that may be available at such times. This is a Fund that we administer on behalf of the Wellington City Council.

This may mean that we meet with you to better understand your situation and we will try to help you access the right help at the right time. Please contact us so that we can work with you. Regardless, we will try to help you overcome whatever challenges or distress you may be experiencing.

Do you know of someone sleeping rough?

We all have a responsibility to look our for each other, and to make sure that all Wellingtonians are safe, sheltered, fed and cared for.

We are working together with agencies and organisations to help support as many people as possible to get off the streets and to provide them with the other support they may need.

If you are concerned about people who are sleeping rough in Wellington, you can call the Wellington City Council on (04) 499 4444 and let them know the location and circumstances of the person you are concerned about.

This information then gets passed along to the Downtown Community Ministry and Wellington City Mission Outreach Team and the local host who will follow up on the person.

In the Hutt Valley you can call (04) 570 6666 and ask to speak to either Hine Sullivan, City Safety Manager or Leslie Davis who is on the City Safety Team.

Hutt City Council also have a “report it” button where you can log onto their website and log your concern. This will then be followed up by the City Safety team.
